Celebrity Cruises Adds Digital Layer To Health Precautions
Celebrity Cruises has long been known for its luxurious cruises, but the company has recently introduced a new feature on its ships that will help its passengers better protect themselves. The cruise line has partnered with digital health company Mapp Mobile to offer a new mobile app to passengers on all of its ships. The app, which is called “Mapp Mobile”, will work through a partnership with digital health platform Mobihealth for the app’s foundation. The app will function in a variety of different ways, allowing guests to track their health data, monitor their weight, get alerts to help them stay within the weight limits on their cruise, and more. Guest can also use the app to communicate with their health care provider and celebrity doctor Dr. Drew Pinsky
As the name suggests, Celebrity Cruises is a cruise line based in the United States, and the company’s recent expansion into cruise travel options for people with special needs has been a huge success. Celebrity is known for its large-scale, inclusive and interactive cruises, and the new service has attracted many customers from all walks of life. Before the October 2016 cruise began, roughly 2,500 people had signed up to participate in the special event, with some participants even going to extreme lengths to meet the cruise’s requirements. Celebrity Cruises’ mass notification system helped many passengers meet the required pre-cruise weight goals and other requirements, and the company was able to relax the requirements slightly for subsequent cruises, as the event had established a healthy
Celebrity Cruises is adding a digital layer to its own health precautions, giving passengers the option of monitoring and managing their health vitals through a combination of mobile apps and GPS location tracking through the ship’s WiFi. The company aims to provide the information to help passengers stay healthy and informed, while also helping them monitor and manage health-related risks they may encounter during their cruise.
Celebrity Cruises, a Royal Caribbean Group brand, says its new partnership with digital health company Sharecare will reassure guests that everything is being done to protect them from COVID-19 and other public health epidemics.
Celebrity is launching Sharecare Health Security VERIFIED, which aims to ensure that health and safety measures – from employee wellness and safety to in-flight sanitation and touchless in-room dining – are comprehensively and carefully implemented by crew members.

To maintain the ship’s Sharecare Health Security VERIFIED status, the crew of each ship undergoes a screening process prior to each cruise that includes a long list of touch points, including embarkation and disembarkation, housekeeping, common areas and activities.

The technology solution allows Celebrity headquarters staff to monitor the screening process in real time and ensure that every captain and crew member confirms compliance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local ports health and safety protocols.
On any Celebrity cruise, passengers are not allowed to board until authorized by the ship’s Health Security Committee. Once this is done, passengers are notified via handheld devices that their vessel has been reinspected and is ready to board.
This notification and the new verification between cruises should reassure travelers that all requirements have been met and confirmed by Celebrity staff, the company said in a press release.
We were very impressed with the comprehensiveness of Sharecare Health Security VERIFIED and the ease of use for our employees, said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises. When the Celebrity fleet returns to service, Sharecare will help test our strict ‘Healthy at Sea’ protocols, so our guests can simply relax and enjoy their stay.
