Carnival Sends Last-Minute Requirement for Guests on First Four Cruises

Carnival Cruises has issued a last-minute requirement for passengers on the company’s first four-ship Caribbean sailings of this week. The cruise line is requiring all passengers to have a photo I.D. to board (“First and second class” passengers will be allowed to board either without a photo I.D. or with a non-Carnival issued photo I.D. Carnival requires all passengers to provide a photo I.D. upon boarding in order to board and provide an onboard ID to receive service during the cruise.

After a string of recent floods, a number of cruise lines have had to send out notifications to guests about whether they’ll have to book their next vacation before their current one ends. Carnival, one of the most conservative of the cruise lines, sent out its latest reminder about the requirement in a letter written by a company executive: “I am writing to confirm that your dates are set for the first four cruises of 2017. This is a new policy for Carnival and we encourage you to review it before your port calls on January 1, 2017. If you have any questions about the policy or if you believe you are not eligible, please contact me ASAP. Your travel is guaranteed and I look forward to welcoming you aboard the Carnival Legend.” ~~

The news, which was communicated to reserved guests on Friday evening, was not expected and came as a surprise. But in this ever-changing situation and the difficulty of resuming activities, this is to be expected.

This is never a cakewalk as the cruise line works to reopen cruise operations and meet the requirements and guidelines of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Carnival Cruise Line has issued an immediate warning to passengers of the Carnival Vista departing on July 3 or 10 and the Carnival Horizon departing on July 4 or 10. July booked. Guests must therefore complete a health questionnaire in their Cruise Manager account.

You can do this by logging into the official website and going to Manage my booking. You can then open the questionnaire on the left, under your task list.

The cruise line seems to be pushing for this, with Carnival ambassador John Heald posting the urgent request on his Facebook page even in the early hours of the morning, UK time. He said in his post:

Check your e-mail immediately. All guests must complete and turn in an immunization card by Monday evening, the 28th. June.

I respectfully request that you not use this site to debate vaccines at this time. We need this information. Customers who do not complete this confirmation process may be subject to cancellation of their reservation.

Therefore, it is possible that the reservation will be cancelled if the clients do not complete the vaccination questionnaire. Strong words, of course, but that’s part of the CDC’s requirements.

The advice letter states: Carnival: As you know, we strive to conduct your cruise in accordance with CDC requirements for what are called fully vaccinated cruises.  As part of this process, we may grant a small number of exemptions to individuals who have not been vaccinated.  Full vaccine protection means that you have received the last dose of the vaccine at least 14 days before departure from the ship.

The form must be completed for each guest and returned by the 28th day. June 2023, 23:59. EDT, be submitted. This does not leave much time to carry out the work, hence the urgency of the recommendations.

The immunization questionnaire on Carnival’s website is different from the health questionnaire that customers must complete 72 hours before departure. There are two different forms to fill out.

Before boarding a cruise, Carnival reminds customers of some important changes. Passengers are invited to register online and receive text messages in case the cruise line needs to communicate something on the day of embarkation.

Because of the small percentage of people who have received an exemption and have not been vaccinated, there will be no supervised programs for invited youth. The cruise line also reminds those who are not vaccinated to confirm a negative PCR test when they board. You must also pass a test in the terminal before you can board. A further test is carried out 24 hours before the ship leaves port.

This announcement from Carnival Cruise Line comes at the last minute, especially for guests who booked more than a year in advance for Carnival’s first-ever cruise in the US. The Carnival Vista will be the first ship in the fleet to resume operations and will depart on Saturday the 3rd. July 2023, departing the port of Galveston, Texas.

Carnival Cruise Lines is changing the way it issues first-time guests’ travel documents, and according to The Wall Street Journal, Carnival is making passengers sign a “travel release waiver” before they board the ship.
