Canopy by Hilton San Antonio Riverwalk: Modern Design in Alamo City
The Hilton San Antonio Riverwalk is arguably the most unique hotel in the city. Its steel-framed modern design complements the city’s eclectic architecture and style. Guests are greeted by a spectacular lobby with soaring ceilings, glass walls, and a large granite-topped reception desk, as well as an outdoor patio with a waterfall feature.
The Canopy by Hilton San Antonio Riverwalk is a hotel located in San Antonio, Texas on the banks of the San Antonio River. San Antonio’s Riverwalk is both a destination in itself and a source of inspiration for architects and designers looking to update their own commercial spaces. The hotel’s design team created a modern, yet warm environment, which feels like a sanctuary from the outside world.
San Antonio’s waterfront has been around for decades, and many of the hotels along its shores have been around for almost as long and are almost as famous. But every now and then, a new property comes along to refresh the landscape.
The Riverwalk’s newest addition is by Canopy by Hilton and is geared toward area residents. In a quiet corner of the river, where St. John’s lies Where St. Mary’s Street intersects the North Branch, the brand new Canopy by Hilton San Antonio Riverwalk hotel is in a modern glass skyscraper with street and waterfront access. Current trend This must be the smallest lobby in the world, I heard one of the guests say as I stepped over the threshold of the hotel. It’s certainly cosy, but the intimacy of the shop is accentuated by a high ceiling, chandeliers and a view of the river through a window behind a couple of armchairs. Guests will also quickly discover that the store’s lobby hides rooms throughout the building. A few floors above the lobby is the Canopy Central, where you can host friendly meetings or work on business trips. On weekends, the terrace is opened as Otro, with a cocktail menu, light snacks and a pleasant breeze blowing from a few floors above street level. On the Riverwalk level, guests shouldn’t miss Domingo, the hotel’s three-course restaurant that also serves brunch and lunch on weekends. The restaurant, with indoor and outdoor seating right on the river, is housed in a historic industrial building with a restored cistern as its centerpiece. The menu is a celebration of Texas cuisine. Start with Elotes or corn bread with cheddar cheese, green peppers, zucchini and honey butter. There are tacos and sandwiches (of course), but also dishes like ribeye, tuna toada, cilantro-marinated halibut or a bowl of vegetarian chili quinoa. Desserts include a decadent chili brownie or churros with chocolate and caramel sauce. One of the key benefits of the Canopy brand is the beautifully designed guest room. At the San Antonio, many allusions to the local heritage can be found in the artistic touches added to the rooms. Sterilized, reusable glass bottles for the shared filtered water station are on tables next to ice buckets (San Antonio provides bottled water until this equipment is installed), refrigerator drawers, Nespresso machines and open cabinets, as well as glass showers with San Antonio’s Mission-style tiles and Apivita bath products. Rooms also feature floor-to-ceiling windows, comfortable seating, plenty of lighting options and, especially for the traveler with a wire, plenty of outlets to charge their devices.
The Canopy by Hilton San Antonio Riverwalk Hotel is a solid addition to the Alamo City’s hotel offerings, with modern public spaces and rooms and memorable restaurants. Mathematics I’ve seen prices starting at $199 plus tax. The hotel does not charge a fee. Instagrammable moment The view from the Riverwalk, the Otro or the guest rooms will surely be an unforgettable memory of your stay. Loyalty Hilton Honors Good to know. It is not possible to park yourself, the hotel offers a valet service. Pet-friendly rooms are available. Domingo and Otro are very popular, and reservations are recommended to gain access to the best located tables. In the San Antonio Riverwalk, a new hotel is the centerpiece of a new development that combines history with innovative design. While the Riverwalk’s history as a vital transportation corridor has been lost, the hotel’s modern design will provide modern conveniences for the area.
