From Santorini To South Africa, Hyatt Adds 12 New Partner Properties For Earning And Redemption
Hyatt Hotels International recently announced the addition of 12 new properties to its award-winning network, in the Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Earning and redeeming hotel points is a pretty common practice, and it’s certainly a big part of the Hyatt chain’s strategy to keep guests loyal. But this year, Hyatt’s expanded their loyalty program to include 50 new “partner” properties that have their own unique properties to earn and redeem points at. And while the new properties are spread all over the world, some stand out more than others.
For Hyatt, the world is a global marketplace. For hoteliers, this is the greatest benefit of a global company: we are able to leverage the international reach of our brand to bring our properties to more parts of the world, and more people to them.
From Santorini to South Africa, Hyatt adds 12 new partner hotels to host and exchange
Gary Leff 25. June 2023
A reader noted that the former Belmond Hotel has been upgraded to Small Luxury Hotels of the World status and has entered into a partnership with Hyatt, although that hotel has not yet opened. At one point, Hyatt was a candidate to buy the former Orient Express hotel chain, which was renamed Belmond.
Hyatt has a partnership with SLH Hotels that allows you to earn points and status at these hotels (when you book Hyatt-paid rates) and redeem points at these same hotels, although not all hotels are part of this agreement.
Shortly before the pandemic, about half of the SLH hotels joined the partnership. Since then, nothing has been added, which is not surprising since many hotels suspend their integration investments during a pandemic.
On 1. April 2023, however, 12 additional SLH properties have been added to the World of Hyatt program. No announcement has been made at this time. Here are the new arrivals:

Interesting additions
In October 2019, Hyatt has expanded its partnership with SLH to include Canaves Oia and Canaves Oia Epitmoe in Santorini. The Canaves Oia Suites Hotel in Santorini has joined them. All three are class 8 withdrawals.
Perhaps with the addition of the Canaves Oia Suites, they have a better location in Santorini (and there are two pools), while the Epitome might be more luxurious.
Three locations in South Africa and one in Tanzania are part of this resupply package. There are three in the UK, one in France and one in Italy. There is much to see here, including the addition of an option in Dubrovnik. That’s just 12 more hotels, but a whole lot of benefits for World of Hyatt members.
Mechanics of Hyatt-SLH partnership
The partnership between Hyatt and MGM allows elite members of both programs to combine their statuses. This way, they get extra recognition by spending time in their partner’s facilities. SLH hotels do not have a similar mechanism. Therefore, a Hyatt Globalist can redeem points at any SLH hotel in the relationship, but will not receive breakfast (unless it is available to all guests) or an upgrade due to their status.
While the most expensive redemption for traditional Hyatt properties is category 7 (30,000 points per night), properties in the new program, including SLH hotels, can cost category 8 (40,000 points per night). Check prices, as many seasonal properties justify the cost of a repayment during peak season but not at other times of the year, so prefer to pay cash and check if booking through a luxury travel agency offers additional benefits.
Reservations for Hyatt-paid stays at participating SLH hotels include.
- free Wi-Fi
- Free daily continental breakfast
- Room upgrade (with one category at check-in, if available)
- Early check-in (from 12.00 onwards, depending on availability at the time of check-in)
- Late check-out (14:00, depending on availability at the time of check-in)
Hyatt’s Best Price Guarantee does not apply and SLH’s own Best Price Guarantee does not apply. Booking self-catering accommodation directly can result in lower prices than booking through the central channel. In this case, you should even compare the prices offered by SLH.com with the prices Hyatt may be offering. Hyatt points and status credits are not guaranteed to be the best. I often find that this is not the case.
Lake View from the Wing
