Cunard Set to Resume Cruising on July 19

The Cunard Line, Europe’s most prestigious passenger line, has announced that its newest cruise ship, Queen Mary 2, will be ready to set sail on July 19. The vessel, which was originally scheduled to have its first sailing in 2004, was built in 2006 in the United Kingdom and has a capacity of 4,000. The Queen Mary 2 is the flagship of Cunard’s “Queen’s” fleet and carries the name of Queen Mary, the wife of King George V.

It was over two years ago when the British company Cunard announced the hiatus of their once-proud fleet to focus on other ventures. Many wondered if the famous fleet would ever sail again. The ships were mothballed and the vessels were sold off. Now, in July, the Cunard fleet will sail again. On July 19th, Cunard will launch their new fleet of five giant cruise ships. After a nine-day hiatus, Cunard’s RMS Queen Mary 2, set sail back into the Atlantic at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, for a 12-day voyage that will take the luxury ocean liner and her 1,500 passengers on a journey from Southampton, England, to New York City. The voyage will set sail from Southampton on July 19, stop in the Azores on July 22-23, and return to Southampton on July 29. The ship has been undergoing a $400 million refit since late-2014.

The first of the three Cunard ships, the Queen Elizabeth, sails on the 19th and 21st. Get back on the cruise in July, with a series of trips to the UK from Southampton.

Five cancelled Queen Victoria flights – V126, V128, V129, V130 and V201 – will be reassigned to identical flights on Queen Elizabeth.

Customers on cancelled cruises will automatically receive 125% of future cruise credits and 100% of any additional amounts paid, the company said.
