10 Unique Experiences With Aurora Expeditions
Aurora Expeditions’ Arctic experiences have been described as “Epic” and “Scary” due to the remoteness and exposure of the places they visit. Their expeditions are an incredible way to experience the Arctic and its people. We asked our Senior Expedition Manager, Andrew, to guide us through some of the highlights of his time with Aurora.
The Aurora Expeditions company was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in South Africa. Their objective is to provide people with an unforgettable African safari experience, that combines exciting adventure activities with top quality accommodation and food.
There are many ways to experience the world, and one of the best is on an expedition. As a traveler, you’re free to roam, travel, and explore without the daily stress of life. This may be the best way to find yourself, and if you don’t try it, you’ll never experience what it’s like to be truly free. I’ve traveled abroad many times and have been on some of the most amazing expeditions of my life. Here are 10 of my favorite experiences.
It’s a big world out there, and we’re ready to explore it. More than ever, we want to live an authentic and unique experience and create memories that will last a lifetime.

If you’re not an adventurer or don’t want to be cold, but still want to explore the Antarctic waters, try scuba diving. You may see seals in your search.
It’s a great feeling to be the first skier to make his mark on the powder slopes. Avid skiers get the chance to ski in Antarctica aboard the Antarctic Expedition. Feel the cold wind blowing across your face as you ski down pristine slopes.
Camping in Antarctica is not for everyone, but it is certainly a great memory. With nearly 24 hours of sunlight, most tourists who choose to spend the night in sleeping bags in the snow won’t sleep long; instead, they’ll listen to the sounds of nature: the creaking and movement of glaciers, penguins, the wind blowing off the mountains and forming snow dunes…..

The newest experience in Antarctica connects you to the past of the continent’s explorers: You will follow in the footsteps of Sir Ernest Shackleton during his crossing of South Georgia. It offers both skiing and trekking and is not for the faint-hearted. You can still sleep on board the ship, but you will spend about three days walking to Stromness, from where you will sail to Gritviken, where Shackleton is buried.

If Antarctica is too far away for you and you want an expedition closer to home, consider Alaska. Alaska offers so many fun outdoor activities. You should definitely bring your camera.

On the island, you will also be immersed in the Yupik and Chukchi cultures.
From one end of the Arctic to the other, visitors can climb the glacier-capped mountains of East Greenland on a Greenland expedition trip. The view from the top of the mountain is truly breathtaking with breathtaking fjords and a mountain landscape of ice.
Arctic expeditions also offer the opportunity to snorkel. Putting on a wetsuit and jumping into the cool water can bring you closer than ever to the underwater world. Whether you’re swimming among sea otters in a kelp-covered world or diving with seals in a quiet bay, snorkelling in the Arctic is an experience you’ll never forget.
And finally, the experiences you can have during the 9-night expedition in Baja California and the Sea of Cortez. As the water changes from cold to warm, participants in this expedition can discover the incredible biodiversity of the sea and even venture underwater, photographing eels, amazing fish, stingrays and colorful coral reefs.
