The CDC has yet to rule whether the ship will be allowed to dock at its Florida port. Despite the fact that the Celebrity Edge craft was listed as a Red category vessel, with the potential to cause a national emergency due to its deficiencies, the vessel will sail on Saturday. CDC Cruise ship status
Recently, the cruise line issued a statement saying.
During routine crew testing last week, all of our 900+ crew members were negative, with the exception of one asymptomatic positive crew member. The crew member has since been disembarked and all crew members have received a new negative test result in the last 24 hours. We are making final preparations for Saturday’s departure, and the Celebrity Edge will sail out with an approved CDC certificate. We look forward to bringing our guests back on board.
It has become clear in recent weeks that COVID incidents will occur on board, and it is up to the cruise lines to address these issues accordingly. Recently, guests on Celebrity Millennium and Adventure of the Seas tested positive for COVID, despite strict testing and vaccination requirements.
