This is a slow burn piece, intriguing and quietly provocative. - The Stage (UK)

While We Were Holding It Together, a tribute to the power of imagination, subjects notions of body and mind, and the relationship between the two, to close inspection. The result is a poetic, humorous and philosophical performance that, in contrast to its opacity, produces a moving and intimate experience.

The five dancers of While We Were Holding It Together create images in becoming, always changing, depending on who is looking. Is it a rock band on tour? A picnic in the forest? A hotel room in Bangkok? From a perfect tableaux vivant, only broken by the involuntary shaking of real bodies made to stand unnaturally still, we look, imagine and re-invent while searching for what is hidden and for what we want to see.

Created in 2006, While We Were Holding It Together has been performed more than 70 times in festivals and venues in Europe and Asia. In 2007, the piece won Best Off-Theatre Production and Goethe Institute prizes at Impulse Festival in Germany. It had its U.S. premiere at FIAF's Crossing the Line in partnership with Dance Theater Workshop in 2008.

The Spring 2012 tour will mark the debut U.S. tour for Ivana Müller.
