Selected audience responses
to Dan Hurlin's Disfarmer
"Such
artistry, innovation, deep thought and sense of play! One of the most elegant,
technically polished and emotionally rich pieces of theater I've seen. Magical."
"The performance was great. I was completely absorbed sometimes, but at times it made me want to climb the walls - not because of the performance, but because of the pounding dreariness of Disfarmer's life. It was a very powerful piece though and deeply engaging. I do wonder if trying to keep it to an hour would be better. On the other hand, without that driving repetition of ideas I'm not sure that the point would be driven home as effectively."
"One of the most enchanting effects of the performance was what seemed to be a strong affection in the performers for the puppet."
"I was expecting the puppetry bit and the photo bit (I knew the artist) but was really transported by the movement of the piece (on every level), the set decor and the sound."
"Loved the economy of means to convey the narrative. I brought my 86 year old mother-in-law and she loved the performance, too. Thanks."
