LJP-subpage-30.jpg MAPP Artist, Liza Jessie Peterson, at Penumbra Theater 11/6
Liza Jessie Peterson's "Peculiar Patriot, " a project produced by MAPP, will be at Penumbra Theater November 6, 2014, as a part of the Claude Edison Purdy Individual Artist Festival.

Our History

MAPP International Productions was established in 2006 by Ann Rosenthal and Cathy Zimmerman as the successor to MultiArts Projects & Productions, the much-admired company founded by Rosenthal in 1994. Over the past two decades we have:

  • Produced 47 new multidisciplinary performing arts works with more than 400 artists from New York City, from the U.S., and from around the world;
  • produced over 70 national tours, bringing those works to public in 42 U.S. states and 16 countries; and which increased national exposure for artists who were little known outside of their home communities prior to their partnership with MAPP;
  • introduced audiences in New York City and across the U.S. to artists from 25 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Caribbean;
  • devised numerous formats for local public engagement, and nurtured presenters nationwide in replicating those activities for their communities;
  • co-founded and managed five programs for international exchange;
  • raised and managed over $8 Million for artists' projects;
  • published "Blink Your Eyes: Sekou Sundiata Revisiet" (2013); "Building Enduring Partnerships: A Report to the Field" (2011); and "The America Project: A Teaching Method for Collaboration, Creativity & Citizenship" (2009) and produced the film "finding the 51st (dream) state" (2009).
